FastTrace
Remote Access Digital Video Recorder
FastTrace provides remotely accessible
evidential quality digital video recording,
FastTrace delivers rapid and reliable retrieval
of watermarked images or live video over the
widest range of communication networks.
FastTrace
is a digital video recorder (DVR) with remote
access capability. It provides recording and
long-term storage of video and audio at
decentralised (remote) sites while allowing easy
and fast, centralised access to stored high
quality digitally recorded video evidence. Live
viewing of site activity is also available.
FastTrace
is ideal for businesses that require reliable,
distributed, long term recording of high quality
video evidence that can be easily and quickly
accessed from anywhere within the enterprise.
Unlike other DVR's, FastTrace provides rapid
remote access and retrieval of high quality
digital video on a diverse range of
communication links. Being a tapeless recording
solution, FastTrace addresses long term
recording requirements through advanced,
dedicated, video processing electronics and
recording algorithms, without the need for any
"hands on" hardware interaction.
The
FastTrace is supplied as a 3U 19" rack
mount unit. It is now available as a 10-channel
or 20-channel device, with options of one to
four hard drives (each 80GB in capacity) and one
or two video compression engines. Each video
compression engine (VCE) can process up to 25
PAL or 30 NTSC images per second at CIF (VHS)
resolution. At 2CIF (better than S-VHS)
resolution these figures are halved.
With
exceptional recording performance and
sophisticated alarm handling, FastTrace is
designed to work across a range of communication
links including PSTN, ISDN, LAN and WAN.
Flexible
communication options allow use of the most
cost-effective medium to meet customer needs.
FastTrace is network ready and will send live,
high quality video over networks without
consuming large amounts of bandwidth. To help
network managers provide a consistent network
response, a programmable data transmission
throttle is provided so that a maximum
throughput speed can be defined.

duress and intrusion alarms, ATM transactions
or scene activity)
Evidential quality recording
Proof that images have not been altered and high
image quality are essential to event
investigation and resolution. Watermarking and
encryption guarantees accurate validation of
untampered images and associated data. FastTrace
delivers superior image resolution compared to
traditional VCR recording.
Reliable, uninterrupted operation
Insist on reliability and reduce operational and
resource costs. Sophisticated software
development methods combined with a purpose
built hardware platform ensure reliability and
eliminate the need for human intervention.
Rapid remote access
Eliminate the need for on-site investigation.
Comprehensive search options combined with fast
transmission technology allow rapid remote
search and and retrieval of events over the
widest range of networks, even via a standard
telephone line.
Increased recording capacity
Store the images that count. Flexible recording
options combined with optimum image compression
technology allow additional images to be
recorded at a lower storage cost. Over 100
million high quality images - as many as on 200
videotapes (1 image per second from each of 10
cameras for 120 days) - can be stored within a
single FastTrace recorder.
Remote, multiple site management
Remote alarm notification and site control.
Automatic transmission of images enables the
cause of alarms to be seen at a centralised
monitoring facility. Two-way audio, remote
camera Pan/Tilt/Zoom control and other
integrated control capabilities provide flexible
remote site interaction and control.
